BFS Newsletter #124 - A Busy Week is Stomping Me
Hi <<First Name>>!  February had been pretty slow, but the last week of the month came along and WHAM!  Everyone and their mama wants to work with us, but it all is due ASAP.  Great.  And that, my friends, is a joy of a business like mine.  Hurry up and wait.  Hurry up and wait.  But it keeps me on my toes, which is necessary.  If I get bored, I get useless.

This week was all about pet sitting and getting work done as quickly as possible.  Oh, and pet sitting has taught me something about myself too.  I don't want a puppy.  I like 3+ year old dogs that have way less energy to pummel me with.  For any of you with puppies or babies, how the heck do you do it?!  I'm exhausted with two Boxer puppies and it's only a 3 day job!

Amber asked, "Do you invest in the stock market?  What are your long term investments?"

We do invest in the stock market through my husband's Roth IRA and through a trading account at Scottrade.  My husband researches high dividend yield stocks and stable companies, then we pounce.  Johnson and Johnson has been good to us.  Altogether, we are probably invested in 20 or so stocks.  My Roth IRA and old 401k are invested in Vanguard target date mutual funds that automatically get less risky with age.  We're hoping our Scottrade account and rental income can bridge the gap between the actual day we decide to "retire" and age 59 1/2, when we can touch our retirement accounts.
