Hi <<First Name>>!  We're at the Board Game Geek Conference right now (yep, we are truly geeking it up), but I'm also getting ready for Thanksgiving next week.  :-)  We're hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for friends Wednesday night and we are throwing together a similar menu to last year.  Specifically, turkey, dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, and anything our friends may bring.  I'm drooling already!  I LOVE holiday food!!!

My favorite is our sweet potato recipe from grandma- super easy.  Just boil the potatoes, slice them up, throw on a stick of cubed butter, 1/2 cup of brown sugar, and 1/4 cup orange juice and bake for an hour or two based on your oven.  Yummy!!!

Michelle left a newsletter question a year ago in the November 2011 Giveaway, "What is one item that you have purchased that you wish you spent more money on? (To get a better quality item)."

I bought a few household items when we started living together in 2005 that I wish I had spent a little more on.  The little throw rugs didn't last more than a year or two.  Same thing with cheap dishes and towels.  Now we try to avoid buying anything that won't be around for at least 10 years.  That means we are VERY slowly replacing our hand-me-down furniture since we will not buy anything just to temporarily look better.  This method has meant spending more than necessary over the last 6 years on a really nice bedroom set, a Tempurpedic mattress, and for a few other things around the house like the tv's corner unit with storage.  But it also means that we have 15 year old leather couches in the family room, hand-me-down recliners, a hand-me-down coffee and end table set, and a truly ugly couch upstairs that is just really comfortable.  We are taking our time with them since what we have works and we haven't found great deals on solid replacements yet.

Thanks for being the best readers ever!
