Still Pregnant?

I'm living the longest 15 days of my life.  Didn't want to post this on my blog until I have an answer, but you are my closest followers, and I suck at keeping things private.

I started morning-only spotting January 1st.  "No problem", I thought.  That's pretty normal.  On January 3rd, I realized that my biggest pregnancy symptom, tender/sore boobs, was gone.  That's when I picked up the worry stick.  I called my OBGYN-to-be, but they suggested I go to an ER with an ultrasound machine.  After 4 hours of that loveliness, we learned several things.  My blood tests looked normal.  I had a visible gestational sac.  But they couldn't see anything in said sac.

On January 3rd, I was 6.5 weeks pregnant medically speaking since they base that on the first day of your last womanly fun times *sarcasm*.  BUT, I know I was only 4 weeks past the date of conception thanks to ovulation sticks.  Given that info, we were told that I either have a "blighted ovum" (creepy name for a super early miscarriage, where my body built a home for cells that didn't actually keep developing into an embryo) OR it's simply too early to see the tiny baby and tiny yolk sac.

Yep, their two guesses were either I'm pregnant, or I'm not but my body hasn't realized it yet.  Yay...

Pregnancy symptoms, or the lack thereof, don't actually mean anything in my current case.  My body thinks it's pregnant whether it is or not, so now it's all about just waiting around while continuing taking my pre-natal vitamins and being on good baby-making behavior.

My first OBGYN visit is still January 18th, where they will do follow up blood tests and a new ultrasound check.  I'll technically be at 8.5 weeks and about 6 weeks gestationally pregnant, so with a little luck, we'll get real answers.  Or have to wait another week or two since babies aren't really well known for showing up clearly until they are 7-8 weeks along.  A post or newsletter at the end of next week will tell the tale.

The waiting sucks.

But here is the perky Crystal part you know and love - we are okay.  :-D  We are ready to accept either outcome.  If I'm still pregnant, WHOO-HOO!!!  If I'm not, I'll wait around for my body to catch up with the news, and we'll try again after that.  And I will try not to be super angry that I had 5 weeks of farting and boob soreness because of a cosmic fake out.  Blighted ovums - the universe's worst practical jokes ever.
