Hi <<First Name>>! Can you believe the first month of 2014 is almost over?! It's a little worrying how fast time flies. Anyway, with 2014 comes the beginning of dealing with taxes. We sent in our quarterly estimated taxes, and then we needed to tackle a few self-employment questions.
I'll be covering one of them next week: Do you have to send 1099-Misc forms to everyone if you divvy up campaign dough like we do? Not if you use Paypal thanks to their 1099-K, which will be sent to anyone who receives more than $20,000 a year in 200 transactions or more . It only took 2.5 hours to finally get this verified by an IRS rep. It saved us from needing to send out 120 tax forms, so it was totally worth it.

Amber asked, "How do you handle taxes as a self employed person? Do you have a certain method that is easiest for you as far as tracking/organizing expenses & income?"
We use Microsoft Excel to keep up with everything. One book has all of the tabs we need. We have pages for everything - deals, profits, costs, running totals, clients' info, etc. Thanks to a record of pretty much everything, we have all the data for tax season. It doesn't make it more fun, but at least it makes it doable.
Thanks for being the best readers ever!
