Well, Miscarriages Suck...
I tested pregnant in early December, celebrated over Christmas, got worried at New Year's, and it has been confirmed that I'm miscarrying now. I have a scheduled D&C (let's just say uterine spring cleaning) on Monday. It'll take several weeks for my body to realize the pregnancy is 100% over.
The bad news details: This was a "Blighted Ovum". Doesn't mean much other than the sperm and egg started making what was going to be an embryo, but that process was abandoned about the same time my body decided to go full-out pregnant mode. It created a gestational sac, the placenta sent out the pregnancy hormones (HcG), but there wasn't a bun in the oven or anywhere in the bakery by the time I tested positive.
So...Peanut just decided not to board this crazy train quite yet. And my body just did a full-out test run at my expense. Total bullshit but just another seasoning of life.
The positive stuff: Having this type of miscarriage doesn't mean anything for future pregnancy attempts. Plus, the ultrasounds have shown that my baby-making bits all seem to be in good working order. So, we will be trying again as soon as my body resets.
I've told our families and friends. The amount of women who have had miscarriages is astounding. Seems to be dang normal. Ugh.
This is definitely one of those "better luck next time" moments of life. We're just dealing with the suckiness, I'm trying not to be angry at the physical pain involved, and we're hoping we have way better news down the road!
